A rainy morning, after days of strong winds, had us both feeling a little battered and fed up.We knew we were only a short dinghy ride from the groceries available at the commissary on Sigsby Island and didn’t know when we would next be this close to any grocery store. We knew we had to take advantage of this opportunity, so with the brightening of the day around noon, we took a dinghy ride to the Navy Marina.
The 10 minute ride in the calm, clear water felt refreshing and both her moods began tolook up. Still too cool and breezy for swimming, we hung our feet over the side and putted along taking our sweet time with the enjoyable ride. Inside the cove where the Marina is, we tied up the dinghy and had a five minute walk to their campground for showers. Next door is a big shade cloth pavilion. With just enough sunshine getting through the cloth and the winds blowing underneath, sitting for a few minutes felt as refreshing as the shower had. Another five-minute walk beyond that was the commissary and exchange, both small but well-stocked for what they are.
The brisk walk, the shower, and the sunshine had done us a world of good. Back on the boat by dinnertime and in a better state of mind, we tolerated the rocking from the incessant winds better and discussed our plans for tomorrow’s underway and where to go to escape the strong winds predicted for the next week. “We got a pass right by the Boca Chica Marina to get anywhere…hmmm. We sure did love it there”

Our mooring off Fleming Key was nice and we’re both glad to have discovered a reasonable place to spend some time if we go back to Key West but Marina life is certainly easier.
When we pulled back into Boca Chica, we got plenty of “welcome back”s and “good to see you again”s. There was a definite sense of coming home
Blog Post How Long Are We Gonna Be Trapped In The Paradise 7March2017
Originally planned to leave today but the winds have us trapped and the forecast let up keeps pushing out a day, and then another day, and then another day. We may be trapped here forever.
